For those of you with Excel XP (2002) I found an extremely useful tool = today I thought I would share with the group. >From within Excel XP you can select the Data > Get External Data > New = Web Query option which will launch a new browser instance and allow you = to navigate to a web page of your choosing (lets assume the = markets/indexes report on CBS Marketwatch), select a cell with dynamic = content (for instance, the current levels of the indexes) and insert = them into an Excel spreadsheet. Microsoft describes it as: "You can = create a Web query to retrieve text or data that is in tables or = preformatted areas on a Web page." I always find myself using Excel for various reasons when my online = portfolio won't do what I want it to and this allows me to ensure I am = using the most recent information without manually plugging the numbers. Anyway- it has really added a ton of functionality to my personal = spreadsheets and might be useful to others in the group. For more = information, use the Help section within Excel and search for "New Web = Query". - - - -To subscribe/unsubscribe, email "majordomo@xmission.com" - -In the email body, write "subscribe canslim" or - -"unsubscribe canslim".
