I set the filter on the watchlist to 10-15% below a 52-week price high. =
This usually gives me plenty of time (at least the night before) for due =
diligence. I also set the filter pretty high so I don't get too many on =
my list. (CE, CQ, RS, etc). Yes, I miss out on many good picks, but I =
also filter out some stinkers and I'd rather save my energy for the =
occasional home run and therefore "size up" when I think I might have =
one. In fact, just today I set my filter even higher, hoping to find =
maybe 1-2 really good candidates per week. Currently my list is empty. =
In the meantime, I know there are people making money out there because =
today I've received 6-8 breakout alerts, but I don't care, I do what *I* =
want to do.
I decide the night before if I'm buying and when, so that I make it as =
mechanical as possible and get in the proper mindset. Then I watch the =
price and volume action on my own and have even bought minutes and cents =
prior to the alert being sent. The first thing I do is set a hard 8% =
stop and a mental 5% stop and watch it carefully until it's well clear =
of the pivot.
I'm a lazy investor, so I rely on breakoutwatch.com to find stocks for =
me, but *I* decide which ones to buy. I have a gold subscription and =
it's worth it to me, even with the limited use I'm giving it.
