Throw away all your other books. This paperback is the bible:

Someone inquired about a reliable internet brokerage. I have been with
Discover Brokerage Direct (nee Lombard) since Nov 96 (when I discovered the
Fools). This brokerage charges $14.95/market order, $19.95/open order,
$34.95/phone orders. When the internet site is down for whatever reason, use
the 800 number & tell them you could not connect online & they will give you
the lower commission. I'm hearing alot of favorable comments on Datek also
which is even cheaper.
