Kids and Saving ? I have two kids (6+9 years old). They both get allowance of $10.00 weekly. I want to start requiring them to divide their allowance 3 ways- $3.00 for now spending, $3.00 for short term savings (for something they may want 2 months- 1 year from now), $3.00 long term savings (something big like car, college, house etc) and $1.00 for charity of their choice. Their short term savings goes in a local savings bank (no fee). However I want them to put their long term savings in a mutual fund. Does anyone know of a good growth mutual fund with less than a $25.00 min. monthly investment? Also, does anyone know of a good charity (preferably one that deals with children) that will accept donations of around $5.00 a month. Please don't suggest donation box at church. thanks, SK - -
