I resent the system that makes this the smartest way to deal with the issue for most people. This wouldn't happen in a system in which everyone was insured or we had socialized medicine. Without those things, a grass roots movement to change the system or a sensible legislature, intelligent people cannot be blamed for looking out for themselves. Capitalism is based on survival of the fittest. It would be unAmerican to spend money if you could find a way not to. If greedy politicians or lobbyists aren't looking out for your self interests or those of your family, don't blame people for doing what they can to look out for themselves. In a sense, our policians become our role models for better or for worse. >> I *don't* resent my tax money going to pay for welfare for truly needy >> people who haven't engineered their poverty to qualify for government >> benefits. > >Amen! > >elaine <esslady@ix.netcom.com> Mark Nowak Chicago, Illinois Motorola: nowak@comm.mot.com IIT: mnowak@ece.iit.edu http://www.ece.iit.edu/~mnowak/index.html Hotmail: marknowak@hotmail.com, http://www.geocities.com/Paris/1092/ - -
