Now that the technical corrections to Roth IRA allow the taxpayer the option to spread the income over four years or one year if converting to a Roth IRA in 1998, I have the following situation: I and my wife would like to convert our traditional IRAs to Roth. Are we permitted to spread the conversion income on my wife's account over four years and include the entire amount for *my* account in our 1998 income? Or do both have to pick the same option (one year or four years)? Thanks, Ravinder Bhumbla - -
