If you donate $3000, you will receive a reduction in your tax liability of $840 (assuming you are in the 28% tax bracket). Of course, this is only if you are itemizing your deductions. If you are taking the standard deduction, you will receive no monetary benefit for your contribution. However, you will get a nice warm-fuzzy. - -
