Some mortgage lenders now charge you interest every day until they receive your payment no matter when your payment is due. For example if your payment was due on the first and the lender received the payment on the 5th, they would add on 4 days extra interest. They claim they should be paid interest for every day you have their money. Does your bank mail the mortgage payments to your lender? Ask them if they will do an automatic electronic funds transfer to your lender on a set day of the month. This will avoid the "lost in the mail" problem you are having. Electronic funds transfer has a record of when the lenders received your payment.
