Hello - I've been living in my house for about 35 years and I'm 66 years old. I bought the house for $35,000. About 15 years ago I personally built a two apartment addition on to the back of the house for $32,000, and I have been renting them ever since. I will most probably sell my triplex for about $165,000. Generally how will I be treated as far as taxes are concerned if I don't buy another house? I am reluctant to sell it because of taxes.
