Nice try, but you can only contribute a total of $2000 to the combinati=
on of the Roth and regular IRA.
With both of you working you are likely over the income limits for a re=
gular IRA and are thus limited to opening a $2000 Roth IRA for each of =
you.
New Question: =20
Why is the Roth limit set at a skimpy $2,000? =20
Why didn't Roth go for $5,000 or even $10,000???????
Any chance of the gov getting smart and making it easier for people to =
save real money for retirement?
$2,000 doesn't buy much any more, and it doesnt add up very fast at tha=
t piddle pissin rate.... :-)

I am an employee covered at work by a qualified retirement pension plan=
(separate from my 401K), while my wife is not.
Since we meet the income criteria (under $150,000 annual income), I wil=
l deposit
an additional deductible 2,000 in my wife's IRA. I have the following t=
wo
questions:
1. Can I deposit an additional $2,000 in my own deductible IRA?
2. Can I, and my wife, take an additional $2000 each, and deposit in th=
e Roth
IRAs?
