We now have a personal finance bulletin board at:

http://pfinance.miningco.com/mpboards.htm

I welcome (and, in fact, *encourage*) everyone to post their questions and
answers on the bulletin board, either in addition to or in place of
posting to the Digest, for the following reasons:

1) You will likely receive an answer to your question more quickly using
the bulletin board than posting it here. I publish Persfin-Digest about 2
times a week, so your question must wait until the next issue. If you
post it on the bulletin board, the question is immediately available for
replies.

2) The bulletin board is *threaded*. That means that, if you are
replying to a question, you can post it as a reply. The question and all
the replies will become one thread, so that you can read the question and
all the replies to it all at once.

3) The bulletin board is *searcheable*. You can enter a keyword, such as
"Viatical Settlements", and get the threads that contain it. This
provides an automatic searcheable archive of questions and answers. This
is something, I know, that many of you have asked for.

4) The links are *live*. That means that, if someone mentions a Web site
or leaves an email reply address, all you need to do (if you're using a
browser) is click on the link and you either go to the site or can send an
email. This is much easier than using your emailer or writing down the
Web address and then going to your browser.

To help get the bulletin board started, I posted the emails from the
last issue, and from an earlier issue (Volume 4, Number 129), including as
threads replies to earlier posts as appropriate. I will also post the
messages in this issue. Please feel free to add messages to existing
threads, or create your own thread, as you see fit. I hope that anyone
who sent an email for the Digest and now sees it on the bulletin board is
comfortable with that. If anyone would like me to remove their question
or reply from the bulletin board, I will be happy to do it if you email
me.

I will continue to publish Persfin-Digest on a frequency based on the
number of emails intended for it. Of course, I will also monitor traffic
on the bulletin board.

I welcome your comments and suggestions, and I hope that you will see
the bulletin board (as I do) as a tremendous leap forward for all of us.

Sincerely,
Ira
