Because of the numerous amount of emails that Mr.Hartz has >received over the last few weeks or so after I reported the incident to all >you fine members, Mr.Hartz feels that I should post you another email >regarding the situation. I've been on the other side. I am the Treasurer for a non-profit. Our statement showed a mysterious deposit for a wierd but substantial amount of money. By the time I had contacted the 3 people who might have made the deposit I had received a debit note from the Bank with a personal note attached indicating that they had mistakenly credited our account with someone elses night deposit. Definitely shows the benefits of checking your statement regularly. What I don't know was whether the Bank found out about this on their own or whether the someone else had complained. I suspect that the response was fast because this is a two barnch locally owned bank. They may not have a web page but they are competitive in their niche (local small business financing). I wonder what would have happened if the 30 days needed to report errors in the statement had passed without the other party noticing the error. Avrum Lapin Upland., CA
