I have about $20K sitting in a low interest savings account. I am a 53 year old male who plans to work at the present occupation of college professor until 65. My wife is the business manager for the local YMCA and will probably hold onto her position until she retires in about 20 years. We are comfortable with a pretty decent cash flow. Given our current situation, what would be the best way to invest the $20K? The stock market has been outrageously successful lately, but we read so much about how we are due for a downturn on Wall Street. We have only invested in the past in mutual funds, bank savings accounts, IRAs and retirement accounts. We would appreciate any advice on maximizing our investments without risking too much. Thanks.
