Subject: What kind of Legacy?

BTW it is obvious that JS the actor is gay and that Eliza (Elizabeth) has bedroom eyes, and was rumored to have been a porno queen.

I didn't mention it but Mary Elizabeth Rollins Lightner (Smith) was a plural wife of JS and is in a foot note in Maxines book as having had her endowments (after JS was dead), even though her husband was not LDS (Adam) and she had her second endowments in the Nauvoo temple. Hummm how was she sharing her priesthood with her non-priesthood holding non-member husband or her dead Celestial Marriage husband?

And how could she be a Plural Wife of Joseph Smith, if she didn't take out her endowments until after he was dead? Not to mention being married for all eternity while her husband was still alive!

Like to see Boyd K. Packer explain that one from an orthodox point of view, or was JS just blipping? Hummmmmmm.

BTW Orrin started this so it relates to ELWC.

Well I saw Legacy just 2 weeks ago.

The Cinematography was good to very good, the Sound tract excellent, the story line contrived and old hat.

The real story of Mary Elizabeth Rollins Lightner (Smith) than that simple soap opera.

She is my GG Grand aunt, I don't know much about her, but probably the most poignant part of the story was glanced over, where she saved the pages of the book of commandments, or turned approached Governor Wilber W. Boggs and connived him to call back a mob or militia.

She used to sew silk shirts for Governor Boggs. Yes one of the earliest converts was at one time a seamstress for the Governor that gave the extermination order.

The worst scene was the Boggs extermination order that totally skipped the destruction of the Nauvoo expositor by JS. So a clear picture of why he was persecuted was not attempted.

What morals were taught? How can the spirit manifest to things that are not true?

In the movie she drops a faithful member and family friend for a hunk half his age? What does that teach us about commitment and spirituality?

She was saving herself for a man that would marry her in the Temple when it was built.

She falls for this hunk and is pregnant before the temple is even built.

Wow what a lesson to cry over.

Yes the images were touching and music stunning, but the story FALSE!

Mary's husband never joined the church, JS tried to get Adam to get baptized one day by getting a group together to go down and get re-baptized, They were all members but Adam. After all in the small group was RE-baptized JS asked Adam, something like won't you come down into the waters and wash your sins away, Adam was reluctant because he felt unworthy of baptism because of weakness with the word of wisdom. Integrity like such may not fill the seats, but it is worthy of confirmation of the spirit.

Adam never joined the church but followed his wife to Utah.

Mary could have stayed back east in relative comfort and had the excuse that her husband was not a member and could not use her religion to move him from his home and extended family.

Her legacy was to have the faith and belief to bring her part member family to Utah and to keep her endowment covenants, in spite of her non-member husband.

What is our 70 mm legacy?

Let me quote from the ticket.

and devotion to truth, Legacy portrays the hopes and trials of early

members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints.

What Legacy of truth was Mary Elizabeth devoted to?

Was it devotion to a charismatic, zealous, handsome man, over her first choice as husband?

Ironically YES, it actually parallels the truth in an odd sort of way.

But that portion of the story was glossed over, nearly obliterated by a Madison avenue fashion, legalistic lawyer, tell only the portion that is politically correct, correlated script.

What is Mormonism's Legacy of the 19th century that made us famous world wide?

Polygamy! (polygyny more accurately!)

Where was the devotion to this truth?

Never mentioned, never hinted to the whole TIME!

Were not all the main character who's real names were used Polygamist!

Even Mary was a plural wife for truth's sake!

Are we so ashamed of the past that we totally edit out of our Legacy the item that distinguished us from all other religions?

Why was JS hauled to Carthage Jail, never to return?

For destroying a press that was about to publicly expose his involvement in Plural marriage in Nauvoo.

And we don't even show a man standing by two or three pregnant women, with a wink and rye smile, for those who know or are proud descendants of that Legacy.

They must be awfully proud, looking down from heaven how we stuff their holy temple covenants under the cushion like some old matched socks.

Yea, Legacy Don't miss it, it devoted to our white washed version of truth.

I had written this to Mormon-l but least I end up like Ron being quoted in the papers, this is for friendly eyes only! Dah!
