A Photo 'Memory Igniter' Of My Mission

My friends at Larsen Digital Services (www.slidescanning.com) took the 'close to a thousand' slides taken during my mission and scanned them using the best equipment and technology available.  Many were in very, very sad condition, but they were able to save all of them -- no small trick after all these years of neglect.  I've put a few -- a very few -- below as a sort of personal 'memory igniter' -- a look at these kindles within me the thousands of memories contained in the scans, which in turn awakens many, many more that were never recorded on film.

That Day . . . in Nobeoka, with the members, welcoming the new day, and New Year, on top of the mountain  . . . Banzai!

Night and Day . . . the view from the Missionary apartment in Fukuoka . . .

The bridge just near the Kagoshima Branch with some of the members  -- many dressed in their finest traditional clothes.  But on the far right, Mr. Hasegawa's daughter in front of the little 'greasy spoon' that sat just to the side of the branch building.

Trains . . .

Planes . . .

And Jitenshas (Bikes -- yes, these are missionary bikes, functional, but not much to look at).  We rode them as our main form of transportation.

And also Boats . . . (the Kagoshima Ferry to Sakurajima)

The long, deserted upper hall at the Kumamota Branch  . . . and one abandoned slipper . . .

Japan and Okinawa -- mountainous, rugged  . . . islands of great beauty . . .

And of the Torii . . .

and last, but not least, 'Missionary Fun' on P-day . . . (upper left, arm wrestling, lower left, a 'Killer Octopi' attacks McFarlane Choro, and on the right, a day with members and friends at the park).
