Welded Bolster Construction

  • The Welded Bolster Construction uses flat steel plate with rib construction on both the upper and lower bolsters.
  • Threaded rods or screw jack assemblies connect the upper and lower bolsters.
  • Welded Bolster Construction can accept Mechanically Adjustable Daylight actuation
    • Very suitable for low rate or development production, where tooling thicknesses vary
  • Advantages:
    • Meets aerospace flatness and deflection tolerances
    • Tolerances:
      • Flatness, +/- .13 mm maximum
      • Deflection, .25-.5 mm across typical Bolster press widths (1500-2000 mm)
  • Disadvantages:
    • Higher cost than C-Channel Presses
