The Body

Many people hold the belief that man (and woman) is comprised of a Physical body, Mental body, and Spirit body. Each of these bodies having the capability to communicate with the other bodies.

A mental image, a thought, or a recalled memory, is able to produce a reaction or response in the physical body. If you were to visualize a lemon, picturing it clearly in your mind, see it being cut in half and the juice squeezed onto your tongue, a likely response in the physical body is to generate more saliva in your mouth, maybe accompanied with a puckering sensation in your throat. The only cues creating this physical response is the mental images communicated to the physical body. (more on this topic later)

Since the very real pain and other symptoms of fibromyalgia are in the physical body that is where we will begin.

Premise No. 1: The body is designed to survive.

The innate intelligence of the body will always take the course which will best prolong its life. When all systems are functioning properly we experience the blessings of good physical health. In times of ill health, the body is still making the most correct responses for survival. All physical responses in fibromyalgia, and other illnesses, are correct for the stimuli which the body functions are responding.

The most basic definition of the body could be: "A mobile life support system for the cell". From the cells perspective all that is needed for its survival is provided by some unseen power. This unseen power is the orchestrated work of the intestines, lungs, heart, liver, kidneys and other organs providing for the basic needs of the cell. Nutrients and oxygen are supplied to the cell and metabolic waste products are carried away. Health begins and fades at the cell level.

Lets now look for clues at the cell level. Close this window, advance to the next page and we will take a look at what is going on at the cell level in the person with fibromyalgia.
