Rish Outfield's reviews
I have to hand it to Full Moon Entertainment, not only do they release a tremendous amount of (be them similar) films a year, but they're usually at least somewhat high in quality. And they're always fun. Blood Dolls was no exception.
Full Moon head honcho Charles Band has created another sick, campy, so-dumb-it's-clever franchise in this flick that has everything: living toys, a clown-faced assassin, a midget, a brilliant mastermind with a tomato-sized head, an S&M-loving female mastermind, and a rock band of hot chicks that live in a cage.
What can I say? This movie was neat. It had some really stupid elements (such as its fairly non-existent story and vacuum of logic), but it was still neat. I really liked the clown guy, a lot more than the other characters, and I'll be happy to root for him in the sure-to-come sequels. It wasn't really as much a horror film as it was a silly little comic book-type superhero action flick with lots of humor and violence. The two endings was cute, but I don't like how they presented them. Perhaps the DVD version includes them separately.
Best Scare: I laugh at your superior intellect.

The tyranist's thoughts
If you have followed the development of this site at all you have probably noticed that Rish and I care a great deal for Full Moon pictures. Well, we were browsing the video shelves and spotted this little gem, checked the studio and knew we had to rent it. Who else has made as many movies revolving around foot high killers?
So there's this biological scientist (who happens to have a very, very small head) and he is seeking revenge on his enemies (the reason isn't really that well explained). In come the dolls. There's Pimp and Sideshow and Ms. Fortune and they're here to dispense bloody justice. Oh, and the scientist keeps an all girl rock band in a cage. So the dolls start killing with the help of a clown faced goon. You probably think you know the rest. I guess you'll have to find out.
For me the best part of the movie was the band. All of my favourite scenes involved them and I even enjoyed the music they played. Really, all the death was incidental.
I would call this bad except that it was made by Full Moon. Coming in you know that it is a B-grade horror movie and you have to allow for that. There are two endings included on the tape and Rish and I argued over which one we liked better. At least that will be fun. Watch this one and enjoy.
