Rish Outfield's reviews
You know, a few months ago, a terrible horror movie could be made watchable for me with a generous amount of nudity. Well, I've either matured or degenerated to where this is no longer the case. Or . . . Blood Sisters was just a terrible movie.
The story went: a bunch (too many, actually) of sorority pledges spend the night in a haunted ex-bordello. Inside, there are a lot of ghosts (including LESBIANS!), but nobody cares about them, they only care about the psycho that slaughters them easily and unnoticed during the night.
There was a foreign feel to the film, though I think it was American, and it felt like it was made around 1981, although the tape claimed it was ‘86. There's a ton of nudity and disturbingly pornographic closeups of kissing, and some pretty brutal killings. Listen for great dialogue like, "You don't have a father...do you know what that makes you? A pervert!" Usually, these movies are fun, and that's why tyranist and I love to watch them, but not Blood Sisters. It was dark, dull, illogical, and not really worth watching.
Best Scare: A fake scare of a baby crying was the only close thing.
I'd Recommend It To: Nahh. Don't watch it.

The tyranist's thoughts
We picked this one up because it fits so well in the sick little sub-genre of sorority massacres so well. Unfortunately, it isn't as good as many of the entries. The movie is low-budget and not terribly well-conceived. The ideas they do pull off are okay, but for the most part the movie is more confusing than anything else. Is it a ghost story? No. Then why the five minute long scenes involving individual girls and apparitions. No reason. There is also far less nudity than I expected. This always indicates one of two things. Either the movie is really well done and nudity isn't really needed to keep the audiences attention or it is so bad that none of the girls would get naked for the camera because the reward wasn't worth it. I am pretty sure that this one is more the latter combined with the fact that at a slumber party, not a single soul changed into pajamas. You can do much better than this movie, but if you are desperate for a sorority massacre, this one might sate you a little. Of course, let me warn you that you won't care that everyone is dead when the credits roll.
