The tyranist's thoughts
Tripe was the first word that came to my mind when the credits rolled on this movie followed shortly by crapfest. This is
exactly the kind of irresponsible filmmaking that gets horror a bad rap. On top of the normal offenses lies the fact that
it is not the least bit entertaining. Not once in the 76 minutes the movie lasted did I even smile.
Apparently desperate for money, the creators of The Boogeyman, which I didn't like but
looks like The Maltese Falcon next to this, got together and planned a clips show. Over 50% of the movie is lifted
directly from the first entry to the series and what remains is an incredibly shoddy piece of storytelling. Apparently,
there is a psychic named Annie (of course, she's psychic. In the only kind of original part of the movie, they try very
hard to prove it to us) and she has tied into the Natalie character from the first movie. A parapsychologist lech is
attempting to simultaneously study Annie and encourage her to help Natalie. Think high art film. You know, the kind where
not even experimental theater understands what's going on.
Beyond the fact that the entire underlying premise for this third entry in the series is bogus, they didn't even try to
make it good. The dialogue is terrible and several of the actors pathetic. What new material there is shows a lack of
quality and concern. There just isn't anything to redeem the movie, unless of course, you are looking for someone to do
a voice-over to The Boogeyman so that you don't have to bother to think at all.
Perhaps the two best words to describe this film aren't 'tripe' and 'crapfest' after all. 'Insipid' and 'asinine' are much
better. Just don't see this. Please don't make these people feel good about themselves by lining their pockets for what
amounts to grade-B crap.
