The tyranist's thoughts
I really only rented this on because I've got an itching to see Breeders (1986)
and the local video emporium didn't have it. Still, we are dedicated and I'll suffer through
an A*Pix feature for you.
So a mysterious meteorite crashes to earth in front of an all girls school. Stop me if
you've heard this one before. People start disappearing and the girls start acting a
little weird. Judging by the title of the movie, perhaps something wants to breed.
Of all the A*Pix monsters I've seen this one was the best. And you can tell that they
thought so too. That's really the best part of the movie. Not that the monster is the
least bit threatening, but he is kind of cool looking.
I have to admit that I had a hard time paying attention to this one. What little plot there
is gets dropped and then picked back up often. Still I should have expected that from
A*Pix where the motto is "Unresolved subplots galore." The acting doesn't help either.
The script and core idea aren't bad, but as usual they just fail to deliver.
You probably don't have to see this one unless you are trying to be categoric about
'90s B-grade horror. I'm going to have to do something to find the other Breeders
so that this one isn't stuck in my memory forever.
