The tyranist's thoughts
This is the kind of movie that you hear about for years and years, but when you finally
see it, it is disappointing at best. I didn't even really have high expectations going in.
I take a wait and see approach to most of these "Cult Classics."
A bunch of military deserters wander into a research complex to get out of the acid
rain that perptually falls in their post-apocalyptic world. It provides shelter and more,
but there is something else there with them.
I just didn't care for this one. I like post-apocalyptic movies as much as the next man,
but that setting in this movie really only served as a way to explain why there wasn't
a large cast. The acting was pretty bad at times and the script confusing. There was
this air duct they had on the set that seemed to go to a room that sometimes they just
walked to, but they kept crawling through the air duct instead of just walking to the
room. Or perhaps I was just confused. I also wondered about the entrance to the duct
which was beneath a desk where just any old monster could easily reach out from the
duct to pull someone in. Strange.
Anyway, if this is a cult classic, there are some odd people out there. I just can't
see seeing this one over and over again. Not even to make fun of.
