The tyranist's thoughts
My real reason for renting this one is that I want to see the sequel (which stars Jill Schoelen). Unfortunately, I haven't found the sequel yet and so must settle for its undoubtedly inferior first movie.
A glowing meteorite drops from space and melts on Claude Akins farm. He being the religious zealot/idiot that he is doesn't recognize that it is doing weird things to his animals and family. Wil Wheaton sees it though and gets beat up by his father and brother for it. Eventually people start mutating and all hell breaks loose.
This isn't fundamentally a bad idea, but it made a pretty bad movie. In fact, I would say that with a little effort this movie could have been really, really good.
No matter how much I hate Wil Wheaton, he does a pretty good job here. Claude Akins is evil yet again and it's fun to see Bo Duke trying to be responsible. Check it out, you might like it, but don't expect too much.
