The tyranist's thoughts
This one is a T&A slasher that is often closer to soft-core porn than it is to being
scary. But if you didn't know that after reading the back of the case, it's probably your
own problem and not theirs.
The plot, which is conveniently thin, involves a bunch of late-twentysomething girls
who are invited to be a group centerfold of a magazine. They arrive at a hotel in
Hawaii and start to die. Badly.
Kari Wuhrer plays one of the two cops and is almost the only reason to watch this one.
No she doesn't get naked, and maybe that's why she stands out. Of all the women in
the movie, she alone seemed capable of acting. The other bit that is worth it happens
close to the very end when yet another member of the psychopathic family is revealed.
It is the most frightening bit in the movie and the actress (whose name slips me at the
moment) deserves a pat on the back for that one scene. She's nothing special in the
rest of the movie, unfortunately.
So the script was obviously cobbled together as they shot and the acting was about
what you'd expect for a T&A slasher flick. The effects were adequate, but
nothing special. Really the movie came of as pretty mediocre with very little to
set it apart from its peers. The camp value was even low enough that it wouldn't
be much fun in a group.
You can probably skip this one without feeling even a little bad. Unless, of course,
you adore Kari Wuhrer and want to see something relatively recent that doesn't involve
giant spiders.
