Rish Outfield's reviews
This is not called a "Friday the 13th" movie since the franchise left
Paramount and went to New Line. But the changes don't end there. Suddenly,
Jason Vorhees is an insidious monster parasite moving from human host to
human host, transforming them into the hulking hockey-masked killer, bent on
killing for some unknown reason. There were a couple of
something-jumps-out-at-you scares, but little else. It had some interesting
'cute' references to Jaws, Evil Dead, and
A Nightmare on Elm Street but
not enough. Erin Grey, back in her "Buck Rogers" days, was SOOOO beautiful,
it's really a shame she had to end up here. In the end, I just sighed and
thought, "Well, that was a waste, what else you got?"
Best Scare: None are coming to mind.
I'd Recommend It To: Only those who want to be able to say (after a shudder
and a sigh) that they've seen all the Jason movies.
The tyranist's thoughts
This movie was just plain bad. It had a plot. It had sympathetic characters. It just ended up being so stupid that it was
almost unbearable. If this were truly the final friday, I think that we should have stopped a few back. Unfortunately,
I believe we managed to pick up the rated R version instead of the unrated version. As far as I know, though, the director's
cut is only more violent, not less stupid.
