Rish's Reviews
I saw this on a double bill with Scream and Scream Again, and it made for a very enjoyable afternoon. Tyranist often mentions that he dislikes anthology films and I love them, and this would probably be no exception.
Psycho author Robert Bloch brings us four stories centering around the same creepy house: The Cloak, Sweets For the Sweet, Waxworks, Method for Murder, as well as a wraparound story of an investigator from Scotland Yard learning the history of the now-empty house.
Expertly directed and well-written, the only complaints I have about this story are that it was rather illogical and a little long. Oh, but it was a lot of fun. It had quite a famous cast too, including Peter Cushing, Denholm Elliott, Jon Pertwee, Ingrid Pitt, Joss Ackland, and Christopher Lee.
It has been so long since I saw this film that I have very little to say in this review (pretty much all my notes say is "Good movie"). The little girl in "Sweets For the Sweet" was unbelievably beautiful. I'd be curious to see what she grew up to be.
I'd Recommend It To: I really enjoy these early Seventies horror anthologies. If you do too, then be sure to seek this one out.
