The tyranist's thoughts
I'm not sure what I was expecting when I popped this one in but I have watched a rash of pretty bad stuff lately and I
came away confused by this one. Featuring decent production values and an easy-on-the-eyes cast (yes, I'm referring to
Vince Schiavelli) but a story that just doesn't quite push anything new, I'm still not sure if I liked it or didn't.
Maybe that's the answer. Maybe I'm feeling apathetic.
So five girls are lured to an isolated home by a boy promising to show them jars containing fetuses. Well, he kills one
of them and attacks the rest. Flash forward, all the girls are getting back together and slowly they start to die off.
I wonder why. Who could be killing them?
Perhaps the most interesting thing I noticed in the movie is that the main character, played by Jennifer Jostyn, wore
only very short skirts, Mini-skirts if you will. Seriously. With only two exceptions (one being what she wore at night
and the other an understandable case) she wore a mini-skirt. My favourite moment in the movie was when in one of the two
situations she was wearing something a little longer, it suddenly snags on something and rips off to reveal, yes, a
mini-skirt.
So do you see my frustration? There were so many long periods of nothing happening and a plot that has no suspense. I
had time to make sure that she always had a mini-skirt on. I was bored. But the movie wasn't terrible. It just wasn't
good either. I suppose that makes it completely average.
Well, see it if you will. I'm sure there is an audience for it and you might actually like it, but I found it to be
pretty much down the party line.
