The tyranist's thoughts
Hey, I'm as big a fan of Jim Wynorski as anyone (except maybe Rish) and the chance to check out his remake of an old Corman flick is something I'll jump all over any day. Add to that the fact that this is also Traci Lords first "legitimate" movie and what more enticement do you need?
So something from outer space visits earth and it likes to use a very complicated looking briefcase to remove all of the blood from its victims, victims who die due to very fake looking lightning entering their eyes. Well, the 'vampire' recognizes that another good way to get blood would be to have Traci Lords give him blood transfusions. Hmm. I think I'd like to try that.
Unfortunately, this movie starts with the worst shot of Earth from space ever committed to film. From there it doesn't get much better. The script is lean on plot heavy on the getting naked which normally endears Jim Wynoski's films to me, but this time just left a little to be desired. Especially since the movie tried to become more plot-centric by the end long after I'd given up any hope.
The acting and dialogue are pretty terrible, but what did you expect. The number one reason people still watch this movie is that female characters are constantly naked. Of course, Ms. Lords actually looks her best while in that bikini, but then her nudity is probably more brief than it had ever been up to that point in her career.
I don't know what to tell you. This is a flick that you will either enjoy or loathe and you probably already know which camp you fall into. If you aren't looking for mindless naked fun, then why are you renting a Jim Wynorki film in the first place? On the other hand, Wynorski has made better.
