While I'm not technically allowed to review Pet Sematary 2, I will say this:
I love Anthony Edwards.
Thank you.
The tyranist's thoughts
Sequels are almost by definition inferior and I would expect the same of this one (especially since it wasn't written by
Stephen King). However, there are so many people that I love in this one that it was just really fun to watch them all.
Edward Furlong and Jared Rushton are teaming up again (you'll remember them from Terminator 2: Judgement
Day). This time they hate each other, but the chemistry is still there. Clancy Brown makes his first appearance
in a King related film ("the hardest screw that ever walked a turn at Shawshank State Prison"). Then there's the sweet Sarah Trigger. I
know that all of you are wondering who she is and where I could possibly love her from, but let's just say never
underestimate the power PCU has over me.
When I firt rented this Rish complained about the inconsistencies in it, but I can honestly say that I didn't see them. With
the exception of Gus being able to bury and resurrect Clyde every other rule is followed and in that case I'm perfectly willing
to assume that Clyde is Gus's bastard child since both characters are jerks. The story isn't as spooky as the first and it
doesn't have even half of the cool dialogue, but it still comes across as a pretty good horror film. In fact, if it weren't associated
with the first Pet Sematary then I would probably rate it among the top %25 of the
genre. As it is, it is a sequel that doesn't quite live up to the first. You might want to watch it knowing that.
