The tyranist's thoughts
Rish hates movies based on video games. Hates. But he also complains that they don't make
many zombie movies anymore. As far as I can tell, most of the zombie movies being made
are based on video games. But honestly, can you think of another type of horror themed game
that would convert to the big screen better?
This one picks up pretty much where the first on left off. Alice wakes up and walks out into
the ruins of Raccoon City. The T-Virus has broken containment and infected the whole city.
As big corporations are wont to do, the survivors have a limited amount of time to find a way
out of the city before a tactical nuclear strike cleans up the mess.
The movie felt like a video game. But it also felt like they might have tried a little harder with
this one to get a little more story in. Of course, all of the story seems to be references to
video games, none of which I got. It's really kind of frustrating.
It did occur to me while watching this, that these movies are not dissimilar to the Alien movies
in their basic plot. They are vastly dissimilar in quality, but some of the story elements are
very similar.
Milla Jovovich is back as Alice and does well. Everyone else seemed a little wooden most of
the time, but I don't imagine they were given much to work with. It didn't help that there was
a blending of plotlines from what had to be several different games.
I suppose that if you liked the first one or liked the games you might like this one. I enjoyed
it for what it was, but there are far better zombie movies out there.
