The tyranist's thoughts
I remember the first entry in this anthology series being a decent attempt. I'm not all that fond of anthology flicks in the first place, but I have to admit that it is probably easier to get an effective short made when you know you have three shots at it in one movie.
This one brings back the Longfellow character, this time as a used car salesman. He walks a murderer through his options for a new car. The first car was owned by a split personality psychopath who developed a taste for killing, the second was owned by an unfortunate convenience store clerk who had to deal with the Zombies, and the last was owned by a thief who died post-theft. Hmm, that might be a spoiler.
There were certain things about this one that seemed to be a step above the original and others that seemed to be a step back. Particularly, I really hated the Longfellow character in this one and disliked his dialogue even moreso. It was the frame in the first one that held it back, and the frame in this one is no better.
As for the stories themselves, the first story was well done and worked out nicely even if you have seen Identity and can guess what's going on halfway through. The second was pretty unentertaining and was easily the worst of the three. It featured some weak dialogue and the worst of the the premises. Story three was okay, but not really very strong. Not strong enough to end the movie on anyway. It was confusing and pointless at times, but ultimately just kind of mediocre.
If you do happen to run into this one and like anthology movies it is probably worth a look for the first story. If you are particularly attached to the first entry in the series, it is definitely worth a look.
