The tyranist's thoughts
In my experience, Italians are a little better at horror than the average American. Perhaps it is because there aren't so many of them and
so only those who are good at it end up successful enough for me to see it here in the states. Anyway, I had great hopes for this one.
A classically beautiful woman is having dreams about people dying. All of the deaths seem to invole an ancient Etruscan ritual of some sort.
Coincidentally her husband is an archeaologist who is currently in Italy studying Etruscan relics. Then he dies. She flies to Italy to try
to get to the bottom of things. More people die.
The heart of the idea is actually pretty cool, but they screwed it up. While the woman is beautiful, she is also stupid and not really that
good an actress. John Saxon does make an appearance as her husband, but he is dead within the first five minutes or so. As the plot unfolds
there is less and less evidence that might help us understand what is happening and more confusion. They have some cool mystical elements
that they don't choose to actually use much. Oh, and watch for the science fiction bit toward the end. It has nothing to do with the rest of
the movie, but it's there.
I would recommend that nobody see this movie, but I would especially recommend that fans of Italian horror especially shouldn't see it
since you can only be disappointed.
