Rish's Reviews
I saw this in a double bill with the much-superior The
House That Dripped Blood at a tribute for its producer, Max Rosenberg, who
was almost my employer a couple of years ago and is now very dead. The screening
was actually free, so I have no place to complain about this flick.
But I will anyway.
The London police try to track down a murderer who drains the blood from his victims.
They get more than they bargained for when they meet an eccentric scientist (Vincent
Price) with some connection to the killer.
You've got the triumvirate of Hammer-era Horror icons in this film (though they appeared
together a few times in other movies). Vincent Price is great as usual, bringing some
kind of twisted decency to even the most macabre of characters. He is truly one of
our greatest Horror icons. Christopher Lee's character, however, seemed out of a
totally different movie, and made no sense at all. Peter Cushing was in here somewhere,
but it was less than a one minute cameo. The film actually starred Alfred Marks as the
policeman investigating the crimes.
An odd, disjointed, poorly done film with seemingly unconnected storylines, the only
detail of interest (besides the cast), is that it had Nazis in it. Beyond that, and a fairly
great title, this was a bad film, and so dull that I struggled with sleep the whole time.
This did make me realise that we have reviewed a TON of films with "scream" in the
title, even without Scream Blacula Scream.
Beyond that, I don't remember much about it, and I wish I had written this review
months ago. Sorry. I realise that this is a pathetic review, though in the early days of
this website, it would've been par for the course. I just have nothing to say about
Scream and Scream Again. It was unremarkable, and except for Price's
presence, has nothing to recommend it.
