Rish Outfield's reviews
Oh, ye T&A slasher, where hast thou gone?
Actually, a pretty good silly slasher movie. It wasn't wonderful, but
satisfying. There was actually some character development, some surprises,
and a bit of thought in this one. While most audience members wouldn't care
about such things ("Let's see some blood. . .but shower first!"), it's a nice
reward for tyranist and me. There weren't many scares, but there was a
couple of good spooks and some tension. The 'driller-killer' (seen in the
opening of Sorority House Massacre 2, oddly enough) was never scary, but he
managed to slaughter a lot of folks before I figured out who he was.
Best Scare:
I'd Recommend It To: Among bad 80's slasher movies, this is one to see.
The tyranist's thoughts
One of the first slasher/naked young thing crossovers, this one isn't all bad. It also isn't that good. It kicked off a
sub-genre that rapidly descended into porn and little else. But, this one is well-worth seeing for one very important reason.
Something that was never in the following movies is very present here. Intelligence among the victims. They stuck together
when possible. When they realized there was a threat, they tried to call the police. When they realized they were in danger,
they all sat in a circle and facing outwards with knives to protect themselves. Basically it is just refreshing to see a film
where the bimbos end up acting at least a little bit like they really would. So many of the movies that followed in this
little sub-genre had nothing to their credit. This one does a fine job.
