Rish's Reviews
Now begins the epic known as Sorority Girls and the Creature from Hell.
So, an escaped prisoner runs through the mountains, trying to evade capture.
Meanwhile, an anthropologist stumbles onto some ancient indian artifacts in a
cave. Meanwhile, a group of girls decide to go to a mountain cabin for the
weekend. Meanwhile, two buddies go to a bar and get drunk. Meanwhile,
police are looking for the prisoner. Meanwhile, a scary old man is wandering
around in the hills. Meanwhile, a couple of the girls have their car break
down and meet a dumb guy with a dog who can't stop talking about fishing.
Meanwhile, one of the girls takes off her top at least eighty times, possibly
to make up for the fact that none of the other female characters get naked.
Sometime after that, the film ends.
The only good thing going for this movie was its title (and to be honest, how
great IS it?). This was one bad movie. From the first excruciatingly lame
gunfight (none of the guns actually fired) to the elementary school
play-worthy evil artifact (whose eyes glowed with the odd shape and quality of
automobile headlights), it was like a slap to the face of even BAD horror
filmmaking. There were no scares. The monster spent most of its time
looking stupidly from side to side, and the rest of the time ineptly tried to
strangle people half his size. The ending was just terrible, a ten minute
denouement of what happened after, leading up to a sequel setup that
could have been told in thirty seconds.
I was just glad tyranist and I were back together again to experience this.
It would have been too difficult alone.
I'd Recommend It To: Do I have to recommend it to anyone?
The tyranist's thoughts
I was so excited to see this movie that I almost didn't wait until Rish was going to be
in town to watch it. I'm glad I waited though. Sharing the pain made it easier to bear.
About fifty unrelated subplots feed into this and really only create a mess that couldn't
be sorted out by any sane person. All I was looking for was a good T&A slasher. It
isn't to be found. The core premise is bad to start with and I'm really only guessing at
what the premise was. The use of sorority girls in the title could probably be declared
false advertising since they had little to do with the plot. The monster was abominably
bad, the acting even worse. About the only thing going for the movie is the pretty
mountain setting and even that disappears once night falls.
There are so many better movies out there, including most T&A slashers. Go ahead and
rent this one if you want, but I must insist that you not complain to us. We told you it
would be like that.
