Rish Outfield's reviews
A handful of sorority girls move into a dusty, abandoned house (a house
where, years before, another slasher movie, Slumber Party Massacre, took
place). A creepy-looking neighbour is wandering around the yard, and there's
no power or phones, but it doesn't stop the girls from frolicking nude and
playing with a Ouija Board. Unspeakably bad. This one takes the cake. It
was SOOOO awful. Terrible acting, terrible story, moronic everything, bad
special effects (keep an eye out for the hand spraying the blood on the
wall), predictable ‘scares,' tacked-on police scenes that have less than
nothing to add to the film, characters who don't even have TWO dimensions,
the production values of a Dirk Digler film, etc. . .and yet, I've seen worse.
The cast of girls seems to be having fun, and though it's not at all scary,
the movie gets to be pretty funny at times (I do doubt it was intentional,
though). The character of Orville Ketchum was kind of fun . . . the
highpoint . . . the only redeeming factor. And at the end, there was one
single line of truly inspired dialogue ("This man is still alive!"). Sorry.
Best Scare: The possession of one of the girls by the ghost of a murderer.
I'd Recommend It To: Only the most lost, bored, perverted souls. Like me.
Note: Only the sickest of individuals could like this film. Tyranist and I
are those individuals. Not only did we see this film and review it for the
site, but we rented it again--on DVD no less! And while I stick by my
original scathing review, I have to admit that it is entertaining. And wholly fun to watch.
The tyranist's thoughts
I was a confused boy the first time I saw this movie and perhaps it can be argued that I still am, but in spite of all of
my horror film knowledge, I love this movie. Admittedly it is among the worst movies ever made and served no purpose
beyond being a very typical T&A slasher. The title is bad. The acting is bad. The dialogue is bad. The special effects
are terrible. The stock footage is annoying. There is at least one subplot that has nothing to do with the rest of the
movie. The girls are inept and sometimes not even that attractive. The story has no redeeming qualities.
But I'll see it again.
I rarely have as much fun watching a movie. I guess when I never expected it to be even kind of good, I was able to
thoroughly enjoy it for what it is. This is the kind of movie that becomes legendary even though it doesn't deserve it.
This is the movie that makes all the Slumber Party and Sorority Girls movies what they are. This is perhaps the
definitive movie in the sub-genre. Bad and worse. You must see this movie if you are even a little interested in the
T&A slasher. This is a text book.
