The tyranist's thoughts
Wow, this was a sleeper. And not the good kind where the movie gets no respect
initially and then builds a following on word of mouth alone. No. This was the kind
of sleeper that, well, makes you want to sleep because it is unbearably boring.
Bridgette Wilson plays a messed up young woman who worms her way into the
lives of a nice young couple who can't have children by becoming the surrogate
mother of their child. She happens to have a little hate on and you can imagine
what she does to them.
Actually the plot of this one was surprisingly solid. Not spectacular and not terribly
original, but at least there weren't massive holes and all of the motives made sense.
That doesn't save it though. The story is still pretty pedestrian and while I like to
look at Bridgette Wilson as much as the next red-blooded American, it just didn't help.
The true weakness of this one is that it felt restrained and even in her most evil
moments, she just seemed like a bitch who happened to think she could get away with
it. For anyone who actually is a parent, there were a couple of laughable bits, but
really, this one should just be avoided since it has almost nothing to offer.
