Rish Outfield's reviews
Insultingly bad. Hey, I like skin flicks as much as the next guy, but I
consider this film to be nothing more than sick, non-titillating pornography.
The only high point is when a victim is run over by a truck about 800 times,
but I digress. What a shame that Mathew McConaughey and Rene Zellweger
were a part of this disgusting waste. Still, it's possible to recognize the
talent of both of them even in this. It included dialogue that was so bad it
hurt to hear it.
A friend and I rented this and One Dark Night one afternoon and regretted
it. I mean, One Dark Night was really bad, but it was frigging On The
Waterfront compared to "Texas Chainsaw 10" or whatever. Since I saw it
without tyranist and told him I'd lend it to him if he wanted, though I
advised against it. It was, in both my estimation and that of the guy I saw
it with, one of the worst movies we'd ever seen.
I'd Recommend It To: Quite the contrary--I'd advise against it.
The tyranist's thoughts
You know, I'm not sure that the idea that started this series was a good one. I'm really not sure that making more than one
movie was a good idea either. But, I know that making a fourth entry in the series was an especially bad idea. This movie is
terrible in almost the same ways as Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers is. It has the
same terrible lack of foresight, the same twisted plot conventions that don't belong and don't make sense anyway. Well over
half of the movie involves someone or other chasing Renee Zellweger's character around while she screams really loud. Oh, and
while I am on the subject, if you liked her in Jerry Maguire, you still don't need to see this movie. Matthew
McConaughey plays that bad guy (not Leatherface, but the main sicko) and does a fair job considering the inane plot and
terrible dialogue that he was saddled with. There are several other characters, but as none of them are played by someone
even a little famous or made even a little memorable, I won't go into them. One last note. If you get to the end of the movie
and you here yourself saying, "huh?" repeatedly, that is to be expected. About sixty new plot elements are introduced in the
last ten minutes and not one of them makes sense.
By the way, there is nothing appealing or graceful about Leatherface twirling around on a dirt road with his chainsaw. It just
hurt my head to think about.
