Stephen King has published no less than five collections of short stories, starting with 1978's "Night Shift." His stories range in quality almost as much as subject matter (in fact, nearly half of the series episodes are not horror stories), but when they work, nobody does it better.
In the summer of 2006, the TNT cable network told several of these stories in one hour formats, utilizing different directors and writers, and also ranging in quality. It is unknown if they will repeat the experiment, but if they do, we'll probably have to watch those as well.
