Rish Outfield's reviews
This movie worked and didn't work. After A-Pix's so-horrible-it's-great Jack Frost, I expected something similar here. Surprisingly, a lot of this was professionally done. The story was bad, but not so bad it was entertaining. The dialogue was stupid, but never funny-stupid. The lapses in logic were much fewer in this film, so they seemed to detract instead of add to the movie. The acting wasn't so bad...surprisingly. In fact, Isaac Hayes really shined. Uncle Sam offs a ton of people (so many that some people actually die offscreen) in 'creative' ways, but it all got old since very few were actually creative.
When I found out that Uncle Sam's director, William Lustig, also helmed Maniac, it really made me think. I'm sure, when Lustig was directing Maniac, he had no idea that twenty years later he'd be making even lower brow fare. Although I hated Maniac, I've got to feel a little sorry for the guy. You'd think a twenty-two year old aspiring auteur would have directed Uncle Sam, not someone who had a career once, and it's come to this.
Best Scare: No real scares, though the Uncle Sam mask WAS scary, as were his eyes.
I'd Recommend It To: The bored among fans of dumb horror.

The tyranist's thoughts
Another bad movie by A*Pix. If you loved Jack Frost, then Uncle Sam will blow your mind. I hated this movie unequivocally. I will grant that Uncle Sam is a much scarier villain than Jack Frost, but come on. This is modern low budget horror and you should know that coming into the movie. The best part of the movie for me was probably the scene where the Uncle Sam on stilts is peeking in a second story window. That is it. It was good to see Isaac Hayes I guess and I was excited to see P.J. Soles, but here character was on screen for five minutes and for the majority of that time I loathed her. Actually, if I could find one more horror movie with her in it (Halloween and Carrie are the two that I know she is in), I would consider adding her to the Scream Queens list. If anyone asked me about this movie, I wouldn't hesitate to tell them it was absolutely terrible.
