Rish Outfield's reviews
Ooooh, awful. Not a Horror Film, really. This is barely a vampire movie, barely an action movie . . . barely a movie at all. Cheap, silly, poorly-done, laughably predictable, and annoyingly cartoonish. I know that it's based on a comic book series, but that doesn't mean it has to be dumbed-down--look at the "Batman" cartoons! Talisa Soto (as the title role) may be cute, and she may have been a Bond girl, but she cannot act to save her life. And Roger Daltrey? WTF? Something else that got on my nerves were the really lame re-used-in-a-dozen-Roger-Corman-movies effects shots that were practically omnipresent. The bat-transformation scenes are so terrible they were funny, but the rest of the movie was just terrible. Every once in a while I thought we would get some character development and real emotion, but it never happened. But before I bash it any further, I think I'm fooling myself here. What did I expect when I picked up the video jacket and looked it over, then took it all the way across the store to rent it? I should've been prepared. With that in mind, I don't know where the blame truly lies--in the crappy film, or in myself.
Best Scare: I won't even try.
I'd Recommend It To: Look it over. You know who you are.

The tyranist's thoughts
Anything that has Forrest Ackerman's name associated with it and cameos by John Landis and Angus Scrimm ought to be good. Right? Wrong. Regrettably, I am not up to date on my Vampirella history or I would know whether or not she was a comic character first or something else. I suppose it doesn't matter since the movie had such a comic book feel to it that they could easily retrofit it. Talisa Soto isn't terrible, but she isn't good either. She fulfills her part by just being the beautiful, seductive Vampirella (okay, I wanted her to be seductive). Roger Daltrey sucks as an actor and as a villain. He is the most unbelievable megalomaniac that I have ever seen. In a plot that was actually more suited to a bond film, than a vampire one, Roger Daltrey gave me no opportunity to even kind of believe that evil would win.
Watch out for the revoltingly stupid bat transformation effects, the strange cuts made specifically to avoid having to do special effects, and the way Vampirella avoids sex like the plague. Doing any of those things better might have helped the movie. Oh, and what kind of a name is Jaimie Blood anyway?
