The tyranist's thoughts
Made by the same filmmaker who did the "Addicted to Murder" series, this earlier film is sharper and more plot
oriented. A traditional linear story, this one surpasses those that followed it.
A group of unwitting girls follow a demon into a trap and end up accidentally opening up a nexus to hell. Luckily there
are a couple of guys there already waiting to protect them. Now if they can all just survive until daylight when the
nexus will disappear.
Featuring an pretty normal plot, what really separates this one is the world in which it takes place. Demons want to
open a gate to Earth so that they can take over, but there is a race of beings standing in their way. Vampires. Cast
distinctly as heroes, the vampires in the plot are definitely of the modern conception rather than the classic vampire.
I think there are actually more stories that could be told in this world that would be fascinating.
Another aspect in which this is superior to those that followed it was the make-up and effects. There was some real
effort here and it pays off. Not that it is anything you should expect of a major studio, but it is very, very nice
for an independent production such as this.
If you see this one check it out, you may be pleasantly surprised. I was.
