There is a great story in the March, 1999, Ensign, pg. 56, entitled "Lesson From".

It tells of two boys excited for a day-long hike through the forest alone.  One is a non-member who is disappointed because his friend later announces he is bringing along his 76-year old grandpa who likes to hike.  He's afraid grandpa won't be able to keep up.

The hike ends up to be an incredible adventure and learning experience as these boys learn to follow trails, etc., from this very experienced Scout.  It's not till later the boy who was disappointed with the prospect of hiking with an old man learns this old hiker was George A. Smith, the presiding president of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints.

He later is  baptized, and the message of the story is that because of the time Pres. Smith took to be an example and touch the lives of these two young men, they learned not only to follow trails, but to follow a prophet.
