Evanston
Wyoming FH
Fair (March 12, 2005):
The
two-stake
FH Fair started Saturday with an 8 a.m. meeting at the FHC for their FH
workers. The Stake President of one of the two Evanston
stakes blessed the newly-remodeled FHC and the FH workers.
The Fair started at 9 a.m. and ended about 3
p.m. There was a
50-min. opening session and then classes. This is their 2nd
annual
Fair and there were approximately 70 in attendance.
Since geography keeps their fair from being too huge
(and more
non-members probably attend outside Utah), they provided a
syllabus and lunch at no charge. There was a check-in table with
name-tags, syllabus, handouts, and evaluation sheet.
There were displays around the perimeter of the
cultural hall.
About 5 double-length banquet tables were set
up in a
fan-shape in front of the stage. The tables were covered with
white
butcher paper and had lovely fresh-flower centerpieces. At
lunchtime,
people were invited to take a seat, then were served by the Young
Women---a tuna sandwich, cup of hot soup (corn chowder), and 2
cookies. Pitchers of ice water and cups were on the table.
Trays
of sandwiches and trays of cookies were brought around for second
helpings.
During lunch, the full-time missionaries showed
touching church
videos on forever families (on a large pull-down screen on the stage).
One of the classes was on Scouting requirements and
YM/YW Award
requirements. There was a group of boy scouts and their leader in
attendance, all dressed in their scout uniforms.
There was a class on the history of Evanston, which
was
very interesting--presented by a person from the museum (member or
non-member?)
There were mini-posters all around the halls
(on the walls) with humorous one-liners about FH work. They were
fun to read as people went
from class to class.
