Patronymics:

For a Family History Minute, I held up the word "patronymics" and asked how many knew what it meant.  Of the 35 or more sisters in attendance, only two knew--and one of them is a Family History Consultant.  I told them they probably all really did know what the meaning was, but just didn't know it had a fancy name.  Then I quickly explained about Robertson, Jensen, O'Neil, McDonald, etc.  We will reinforce this learning by writing up a Family History Tip on patronymics in our Sunday bulletin sometime in place of our weekly FH quote.
