Registration
Some of the data on the
Family
Search IGI is protected for privacy
reasons. This data is accessible only if you are a registered LDS
user of Family Search.
To register
To
view ordinance information on
www.familysearch.org you must be registered as a member on the site and
be signed on.
Both
those who have registered and those who
have never registered on familysearch.org need to obtain their personal
Membership Record Number and confirmation date from their ward clerk.
With this
information, go to
www.familysearch.org. Click on Sign On in the upper right hand
corner of the home page. If you are a new user, click here to
Register. Fill in all of your information on the page, including your
Membership Record Number and Confirmation date at the bottom of the
page. Click Save. You only need to enter these two items once.

The registration form
asks you for your E-Mail
address. If you do not have one, you can get a free E-Mail
address from yahoo.com (or hotmail.com, etc.). The registration
form also asks you to make up your own User Name and Password.
You should write down any new E-Mail address and User Name and Password
information.
Once you are registered as a
member of the Church, you can later sign
on again using only your User Name and Password.

If you have forgotten your user
name or password, click under the Sign
On box where it says: If you have forgotten your user name or password,
click here. You will see: ‘To retrieve a forgotten user name or
password, please enter your e-mail address. Your user name and password
will then be e-mailed to you.’ This is one of the reasons an
E-Mail address was requested.
If you have also forgotten your
E-Mail address you can call the Family
Search support number at 1-800-346-6044, or if you are calling from the
801 area code, call 240-2584. Call either number Mondays through
Fridays from 8:30 to 5:00, SLC time.
Before you call or visit, you
should
have your street address, phone, Membership Number, Confirmation Date,
and E-Mail address.
Membership Numbers are 11 digit
numbers in the form:
xxx-xxxx-xxxx. They will appear on the form titled: THE
CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS – MEMBERSHIP RECORD, which
is an 8 ½ by 11 sheet of paper from your ward clerk, listing you
and all your family, and Membership Numbers on each of your family
members. The Membership Number will
also now be on your new Temple Recommend. You will only need
one Membership Number and the corresponding confirmation date for your
family.
