The Words

The words were merely letters,
spaced and formed
Into such meanings as the author chose.
Until I read them,
Understood them, warmed
My faith against their truths.
Then they arose
As luminous beacons for my every day
Waiting to bless, to enlighten,
To be heard.
Here is wisdom, I thought
This is the way;
And I recalled,
“In the beginning was the Word.”
