We would like our little missionary gift to Jevan to go through you, his parents.
When Shane left on his mission, I gave him a loose-leaf binder and told him I would send him something with each letter to put into it.
Our children are just too busy before their missions for us to teach them all we would like them to learn (plus they aren't always in a "listening mode"). I have found their mission to be such a "golden time", when they are hungry to learn and to grow, and I wanted to take advantage of that time.
So I made a collection of spiritual, motivational, and teaching articles that I hoped would help him as he passed through different phases of his mission and through various problems and circumstances and to help him in leadership positions should they come his way.
Since they have proven helpful to him and others, I wanted to give a "missionary packet" to you for Jevan. If you care to use them, you could enclose one article with each of your letters in whatever order you feel will be the most beneficial to Jevan at the time. It’s too overwhelming to read much at once, but one article a week to ponder and work on seems to work well. I’ve pre-punched them and have printed them on both sides to save on postage and suitcase weight.
I have found many of them useful as quick family home evening lessons for Derek before sending them off!
We hope Jevan will find them helpful and wish you all the best in your new venture!
Shane wrote several times that he had never been so happy in his life.
We as a family were very blessed also and know that your family will be
too.
Sincerely,
