This Indenture made the 30th day of January in the year of our Lord 1836. Between Robert Campbell and Sarah his wife of Berkeley County Virginia of the first part and John Whitenah of the County and State aforesaid of the second part. Witnesseth that the parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars in hand paid by the party of the second part the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, do by these presents grant, bargain and sell alein and confirm unto the party of the second part all their estate, right, title, interest and claim in and to a certain tract or parcel of land situate in the said County of Berkeley and containing about two hundred acres and now in the occupancy of the said John Whitenah. being the same land of which the Father of the said John Whitenah and Sarah Campbell (formerly Whitenah) died seized and possessed and which descended to his children he having died intestate. To Have and to hold the said premises with all hte estate rights, improvements, hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto the party of the second part his heirs and assigns. To the only proper use and behoof of the party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever. And the parties of the first part for themselves their heirs executors and administrators by these presents Covenant to and with the party of the second part his heirs and assigns that the said parties of the first part are seized of a perfect and indefeasible estate of inheritance in fee simple in the premises hereby conveyed and have the absolut right to bargain sell and convey the same in manner aforesaid. And that they will warrant and defend the said premises unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever against all claims and demands of all persons whomsoever. In Testimony whereof the parties have hereunto subscribed their names and affixed their seals the date above written.

We Isaac S. Lauck and Tillotson Fryatt Justices of the peace in and for said County do hereby Certify that Robert Campbell and John Whitenah parties to the within deed bearing date the 30th day of January 1836 this day personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid and severally acknowledged the same to be their act and deed and desired us to Certify said acknowledgement to the Clerk of the County Court of Berkeley County in the State of Virginia in order that the said deed may be recorded. Given under our hands and seals this 3rd day of December 1836.

State of Virginia Berkeley County to Wit:
We Isaac S. Lauck and Tillotson Fryatt Justices of the peace in and for said County do hereby Certify that Sarah Campbell the wife of Robert Campbell parties to the within deed bearing date the 30th day of January 1836 this day personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be her act and deed after being examined by us privily and apart from her husband and having the deed aforesaid fully explained to her, and declared that she had willingly signed sealed and delivered the same and that she wished no to retract it. Given under our hands and seals this 3rd day of December 1836.

This deed of Bargain and Sale from Robert Campbell and Wife to John Whitenah was this day produced in the Clerks office duly Certified and admitted to record.
