Family A9 | Abraham Witeknaght baptized April 21, 1765 (born in 1756 at 6 Mile Run, some records state). His pension record lists his birth as Feb. 14, 1757, Sourland Mts., Hillsborough Twsp. He enlisted June, 1776 and served 2 yrs., 3 months and was discharged at end of war. He was a private and sergeant with New Jersey Troops under Captains Verbryck, Coenrath, Ten Myck, Buryea, Taylor, Van Ness and Rynear Staats and Colonels Quick, Taylor, and Van Dyke. He was in the Battle of Springfield. He died Dec. 7, 1833, age 77. He was on Pension Roll under Act of June 7, 1832 Somerset Co., N.J. Revolutionary Pensioners. Abraham may have married several times but the only marriage there is record of is to Anne Coshun. Issue: John; Joseph; Sarah; Abraham. |

Joseph Jr. and Elizabeth had 10 children: John, George, Margaret (Schrunsher), Charles, Joseph, Martha (Raymond), Elizabeth (Reynolds), Samuel Edward who married Bertha Doarig (?) and they had a son Francis D. Whitenack of Chicago, Ill. Joseph Jr. & Elizabeth went to Cass. Co., Ill about 1854 but returned to Somerset, Pa. in 1876-Elizabeth died in 1877 and then he married Margaret Smith. |
